La Primavera

For those brides who crave more a intimate celebration with family and friends in a beautiful, refined setting; where the focus is on sharing sumptuous food and wine and conversations that wind long into the night – this long table lunch, expertly styled by Olivia from Olympia Creative, offers the perfect blend of effortless luxury.

Unfolding in the dreamy, light-filled space of the newly restored Julio’s restaurant in Perth’s Sage Hotel, the breathtaking heritage architecture, wooden floor boards, white washed walls, exposed brick and modern lighting lends itself as the perfect blank canvas to style and creates an elegant ambience.

Channelling a Mediterranean mood, an abundance of wild, fragrant blooms spill from the table, drawing our minds to spring and the promise of warmer weather to come. While a mix of polished and organic materials combine to create an alluring and romantic aesthetic, complete with gently draped linens, white leather cutlery ties, clusters of candles and soft golden accents richly layered upon a raw timber table.

LOCATION: Julio’s restaurant, the Sage Hotel, West Perth. Built in 1902 as the Walsh family home, the heritage architecture, interior and atmosphere makes for a one of a kind experience, that is both refined and relaxed.

INSPIRATION: Primavera (Italian pronunciation: [primaˈveːra]), also known as Allegory of Spring, is a tempera panel painting by Italian Renaissance artist Sandro Botticelli. The painting, depicting a group of mythological figures in a garden, is figurative for the lush growth of Spring. As the event was held at the beginning of August (which is the last month of winter in Perth), the inspiration was to celebrate and welcome spring, and all of its beauty.

PHOTOGRAPHY: Aesthete Collective was chosen to capture the event. Owner and creative director, Lulu, has a very organic and honest approach to her storytelling. With a background in interior design and shooting spaces, and love for flowers and architecture, she was the perfect fit to documents the details.

FLORALS: Sheridan from Sheridan Tjhung Floral carefully created the stunning floral centrepieces from roses, magnolias, orchids, anthurium and andromeba, which not only inspire visions of Italy but cascade through the tablescape. As with Sheridan’s Signature style, each piece is its own work of art. Each has its own focal point and unique combination, pulling in vibrant colours that have just come back into season, perfectly complimented the overall aesthetic. The gold dipped stems add a unique finishing touch.

STATIONERY / INVITATIONS: The Invitations were simple and elegant, and sent in Olympia Creative Signature Collection red rose lined envelopes. The place cards and menu’s were handwritten in an old-world style, on a thick and luxurious handmade paper and welcomed guests to their place setting. The menu was inspired by the season, transporting guests to springtime.

DECOR + STYLE ELEMENTS: The tablescape was timeless yet modern, rich in layers and inspired by the venue itself. With the stunning whitewashed backdrop, and the natural wood table and chairs, it provided the perfect canvas. The table was spilling with blooms and gold accented candles by Coco Luxe Australia and the romantic scent of Atelier Lumira’s ‘La Primavera’ (which boasts a gorgeous bouquet of jasmine, rose leaf, lily and patchouli and powdery cashmere musk), creating a tribute to Italy’s ‘City of Flowers’. Gold tapered candles, draping napery and organic dinnerware lined the table, while marble hexagon coasters and white leather cutlery ties added a modern touch to the setting.

CATERING: A menu inspired by the authentic wholesome flavours of the chef’s home town in Italy,  guests enjoyed the freshest of flavours which commenced with antipasto paired with prosecco, followed by a three-course lunch of arancini, beetroot ravioli and tiramisu to sweeten the palate.

CAKE: The cake was a tiramisu inspired layered cake with sugar coated florals that lined the edges, which was enjoyed with coffee.

FAVOURS: Guests were gifted with a floral scented soap from Maple Soaps which filled the room with the most beautiful fragrance.

The Luxury Gift Co. boxes lined the seats with small sentiments of the day, and one lucky guest took home a floral inspired gift box containing:
